Requirements:
DVM or equivalent; licensed/eligible to practice.
Minimum 5 years of veterinary experience (marine animal experience preferred).
English and Spanish proficiency.
Recommended Skills:
Excellent communication and public-speaking skills.
Ability to bend, lift, and stand for prolonged periods; able to swim.
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills; calm under pressure; team player with excellent people skills and compassion for animals and trainers.
Knowledge of safe restraint and care for species in our collection (dolphins, sea lions, flamingos, psittacine birds, sharks, teleost fishes, iguanas).
Familiarity with workplace hazards and infection control; radiology and radiation safety; pain recognition and emergency care; necropsy techniques.
Understanding of marine mammal reproductive cycles and our euthanasia policy.
Recognition of internal/external parasites of birds.
