Serving at the pleasure of, and reporting to the Board of Directors, this position shall have immediate charge and control of the operations and development of the International Marine Animal Trainers’ Association, with final authority in such matters remaining with the Board of Directors. Part time consultant position (520 hrs./year) Salary 20-40K/year + incentive-based pay. Board Relations: • Provide monthly report to the Board of Directors, highlighting accomplishments, priorities, and progress towards strategic goals. • Collaborate with the Board President to set agendas, schedule meetings, and communicate with the board, committee leadership and membership on a regular basis. • Serve as an ex-officio member of all board committees; works with the committee chairs and assesses their performance with the board. • Attends board meetings and provides a formal update • Contributes to and participates in an annual personal performance assessment • Facilitates the development, implementation, follow up and update of a strategic plan in collaboration with president and board • Support the Board of Directors, and keep it informed on internal conditions and important external developments. • Work in close coordination with the Board of Directors by effectively presenting ideas and issues. Finance and Fund Advancement: • Provide reliable and thoughtful fiscal management of the organization’s resources. • Develop new revenue generating opportunities and sources of funds. • Monitor and make recommendations that support the financial objectives. • Collaborates with sponsorship committee to generate new revenue opportunities that support the goals and objectives of the organization. External Affairs: • Collaborates with trade organizations on behalf of the board and membership. • Serves as the association’s contact person for trade organizations for legislative and regulatory issues. • Attends trade organizations conferences and provides a formal update to members • Oversees public relations; facilitates the organization’s public response strategy for both acute and long-term happenings. • Serve as the principal spokesperson with public figures, media, and key entities. • Network to create, sustain, and build working partnerships with government, corporate, and philanthropic organizations. • Develop and maintain sound relationships with individuals and organizations (AZA, AMMPA, ABMA, Etc.) that can further the mission and vision of IMATA. Strategic Planning: • Provide visionary and strategic leadership to the organization and translate that vision and strategy into concrete actions that advance the mission of the organization. • Identify strategic opportunities and take actions to raise the visibility, reputation and profitability of the organization. • Monitors financial status of the association ensuring adherence to association and federal policies • Provide oversight through the planning of professional conferences; collaborate with Vice Presidential team on content, speakers, and event logistics. • Oversees contract negotiations for the organization. • Promotes membership recruitment and membership retention. • Collaborate with Board of Directors, legal counsel, accountants, and other business consultants as needed or required pertaining to business operations and governance.

Requirements: 
Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline (business, marketing, public administration, education, or aquarium/zoo leadership); advanced degree preferred. • Ten years of progressive management experience, with proven leadership and management abilities • Transparent and high integrity leadership • Effective strategic communicator with an ability to convey optimism and a clear vision. • Exceptional organizational skills, operates efficiently, inclusively and with respect. Organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation. • Creates conditions that lead an organization to achieve its mission. • Success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence. Demonstrated success in fundraising and public relations. • Strong financial management skills including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting. • Possess a valid United States Passport, with the ability to travel domestic and international.
